Sonali Parab
Sonali Parab has over 22 years of experience in the development sector and has been with Arpan for more than 15 years. She works to advance Arpan’s child protection and Personal Safety Education initiatives through strategic government partnerships, advocacy and systems strengthening across India. She engages with Education Departments, SCERTs, Women and Child Development Departments, police departments, municipal corporations and other key stakeholders across Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Goa, Bihar, Odisha, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana and other states.
Her work has contributed to Arpan’s collaboration with Maharashtra SCERT, including Master Trainer programmes and the integration of Personal Safety Education content into the state teacher-training ecosystem. She has also supported Model School MoUs and district-level government outreach across Maharashtra and Goa, helping strengthen the sustainability and institutional reach of Arpan’s programmes.
Before joining Arpan, Sonali managed education and child protection programmes for children and adolescents from vulnerable communities at Prerana. She led teams, built partnerships with schools, child-protection stakeholders and community organisations, and supported initiatives in education, counselling, life skills, vocational guidance and financial inclusion. Earlier, she worked as a Research Assistant at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences on a public-health research study. She holds a Master’s degree in History from the University of Mumbai and has completed specialised training in trauma counselling, child rights and participation, sexuality education, HIV/AIDS counselling, and child welfare and juvenile justice.
